Free Tire Collection Event to be Held at Eagle Ridge Mall Saturday

Getting rid of old tires is too often a problem, leading to waste dumping on area road shoulders. They provide an ideal breeding place for mosquitoes as rainwater collects in them but will not drain. They also create a fire hazard and are very difficult to extinguish.

Waste tires provide a breeding space for mosquitoes as ws they also create a fire hazard. A collection event this Saturday will help homeowners address the problem. Only standard sized tires will be accepted, and no commercial hauling source will be allowed to participate.

Now, Keep Polk County Beautiful, Inc., in partnership with Polk County government and Waste Management., is offering a free solution opportunity by hosting a free Tire Collection and Recycling event.

The collection event will take place at the Eagle Ridge Mall from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday, March 8, 2025. Those bringing tires are encouraged to enter from the north entrance on Chalet Suzanne Road.

Polk County residents and agricultural landowners may dispose of up to 24 tires per vehicle. Only standard vehicle sized tires will be accepted, not oversized commercial truck tractor or off-road tires.

Tire businesses, independent of commercial trucking companies, and automotive businesses of any kind are excluded from the free collection offer. Legal hauling limits will be strictly enforced, according to the event organizers.
