World-renown master cellist and conductor Diego Carneiro will perform two live concerts in a special one-day appearance in Lake Wales on Sunday, December 15. Carneiro has performed for audiences around the world, including at the London Promenade and the Royal Albert Hall for the BBC.
Carneiro has won multiple international prizes and awards including the the Leonardo Smith Duo Competition, Solti Prize, the Barbirolli Award, the Tillett Trust, the Myra Hess Trust, 'Solo Emerging Artist' Competition, and the Duche D'acua Viva prize. The concert promises to be a rewarding and memorable event.
A native of the Brazilian Amazon, Carneiro started performing on the world stage 30 years ago at the age of 11. The Rotary Peace Fellow and master cellist delights audiences with not only his musical artistry but also tales of the Amazon, classical composers, and his message of peace.
Entitled "An Afternoon with Diego Carneiro - Candlelight Concerts," the special event is being sponsored by Rotary on the Ridge and Lake Wales Little Theatre. According to organizers, "Diego keeps the performance lively with audience interaction and humor."
The performances will be held in the intimate auditorium of the Lake Wales Little Theatre at 411 North Third Street in Lake Wales, beginning at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. December 15. Doors will open 30 minutes before the performance.
Carneiro founded a non-profit organization in 2009 that he named Amazonart, which brings together international artists to support social and educational in the Andean and Amazon regions, as well as other parts of the world.
The limited number of tickets are $25 per person and proceeds will benefit Carneiro's efforts to bring music to remote and underprivileged areas of the work. Tickets are available online and remaining tickets may be purchased at the door on a first-come, first-served basis.
