39-Mile Yard Sale Expected to Draw Thousands of Shoppers to Scenic Highway Saturday

November 2 Sale Features Hundreds of Vendors

What do model railroad trains, lawn mowers, rare coins, and collectible art have in common? They will all be offered for sale this Saturday, November 2, along Scenic Highway.

Thousands of bargain shoppers are expected to enjoy ideal conditions for browsing among the hundreds of booths that will line the route of the annual 39-mile Yard Sale. The event draws visitors from across the state and beyond to explore the arcane and sublime offerings brought to the sale by vendors from across the region.

The event spans the 39-mile length of State Route 17, a designated Scenic Highway, stretching from Haines City to south of Frostproof. Scattered sites, including the Ridge Audubon Center and scores of individual homeowners, will join in the event.

Shoppers browsed through the merchandise at the Frostproof Chamber of Commerce site on East Wall Street during a previous 39-mile Yard Sale. The event stretches the length of the state-designated Scenic Highway along the Lake Wales Ridge.

Dense clusters of vendors will be present at several "official" sites that contribute to help host the event. Those sites include Wall Street in Frostproof, the Lake Wales Woman's Club, the Lake of the Hills Clubhouse, the Dundee Methodist Church, and the Lake Hamilton Town Hall. New this year is the Lake Wales Lutheran Church.

The event is sponsored by the Ridge Scenic Highway Corridor Management Entity, which works to protect the natural beauty of the roadway, which winds through the lakes and hills of the Lake Wales Ridge.
