Mild Temperatures, Low Threat of Tropical Storms in Long-Range Forecast

Nature is trying to make up and be nice after a few harrowing weeks of extreme events across central Florida. Autumn is arriving at last, much to the delight of Ridge-area residents fatigued from rounds of Hurricane preparation, clean-up, and power outages.

Fair skies and mild temperatures are ahead for the Ridge area.

Forecasts for the coming week include the first solid wave of cool weather, building upon the welcome break in the heat that followed the passage of Hurricane Milton. Early-morning temperatures are expected to dip into the low 60's by Wednesday morning, although they won't linger.

The weekend is promising fair, breezy weather, and great opportunities to enjoy the huge Plant and Garden Festival at the Lake Wales Woman's Club.

Although forecasts from the National Hurricane Center are warning of a new tropical disturbance which will approach Florida from the Atlantic, our models are indicating a high likelihood that it will be turned away from the state after drawing as close as the Bahamas.

Sharply-cooler sweater weather will remain a distant hope for a couple more weeks, but it's on the horizon. Until then, enjoy the mild temperatures and get outdoors!
