Vera Mae Gundy Hardee, age 90, of Pierce, FL, died Tuesday, October 1, 2024, at Good Shepherd Hospice House in Lakeland, FL.
She was a member of the St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church-Pierce. Throughout her years of faithful service at St. Paul, she served over 40 years as Mission President for St. Paul M.B. Church and Congress Number 5 under the First South District Association of Florida. She was previously, the elected Second Vice President of Senior Mission for the First South Florida Missionary Baptist District Association. She served on the Foreign Mission Board at Progressive M. E. State Convention, and was coordinator for education for the Florida State National Baptist Convention of America International Inc. She was active on numerous boards within the state organizations.
Notably, she also served diligently in her community. She worked with the Bradley Community Project, Inc. where she was instrumental in overseeing that the cleanups occurred within the community. She was an active proponent of education which she demonstrated by tutoring children at the Community Center. She was a person that was always busy doing something to help her church, community, and family.
She is survived by one son: Raymond B. Hardee, Mulberry, FL; two sisters: Rosa Bonney, Pierce, FL, Mae West Edwards, New York, NY; and six grandchildren.
Arrangements are being handled by Gause Funeral Home, 625 S. Holland Parkway, Bartow, FL. Visitation will take place on Saturday, October 12, 2024, from 12 p.m., to 1 p.m. at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church-Pierce. Funeral service will follow at 1 p.m., Saturday, October 12, 2024, at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church.

Interment will be at Wildwood Cemetery, Bartow, FL.
