Warner University Trustees Appoint Dr. Craig Williford Acting President

Williford Replaces Dr. David A. Hoag, Who Will Lead Council for Christian Colleges and Universities

Reverend Dr. G. Craig Williford has been appointed interim president of Warner University in Lake Wales following the departure of Dr. David A. Hoag, who had led the school since May of 2016. Hoag has been retained to serve as the new President of the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities (CCCU) in Washington D.C.

Reverend Dr. G. Craig Williford has been appointed interim president of Warner University in Lake Wales.

Dr. Williford accepted the Board of Trustee's request to serve as interim president of Warner University effective August 1.

Dr. Williford will "ensure the university's forward momentum in implementing Warner's mission," said Trustees Chair Laura Motis." He will serve in this role until a national search is concluded to select the fourth President of Warner University."

"Craig has vast experience in Christian higher education and a strong understanding of Warner University," Motis added.

Reverend Dr. Williford previously served as President of Multnomah University from 2014 to 2022, Trinity International University from 2009 to 2014, and Denver Seminary from 2000 to 2008. He holds a Ph.D. in Educational Studies from Trinity International University, has published one book, contributed to three others and has written numerous magazine and journal articles.

"Carolyn and I are honored and humbled to be called by the Board of Trustees to serve as their interim president," Dr. Williford said. "We look forward to meeting the entire faculty and staff and hearing their dreams and desires for the year ahead as we serve together."

Warner University is a private, Christian university founded in 1968, and accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. It offers over 30 undergraduate degree programs for traditional students, nine programs for undergraduate online students and five programs for graduate students.
