With Florida's Primary Election day fast approaching, Polk Elections officials are reminding every voter to check their registration status.
The last day to register to vote for the August 20th Statewide Primary Election is Monday, July 22nd. The Polk County Elections Office will be offering voter registration services around the county to ensure that everyone has an opportunity to register before this important deadline.
Mobile registration units will be visiting multiple locations around the county on Saturday. Residents who have not yet registered can sign up to vote, and voters may update their information if it's not current with the Elections Office. Additionally, voters can obtain information about early voting or request a mail ballot.
Voter registration forms may be completed online at PolkElections.gov or paper copies are available for pick up at many convenient locations throughout the county including City Halls, Libraries, and Chambers of Commerce. Registered voters are reminded to inform the Elections Office of any voter information changes before Election Day.
Florida is a closed primary state. According to Florida law, only voters registered with a political party can vote in that party's primary elections. However, all registered voters, regardless of party affiliation, may vote on important nonpartisan races including judges and school board races.
