Donald John Garty, 1952-2023

Donald John Garty of Lake Wales passed away Monday, November 6, 2023 at Forsythe Hospice House.

He was born June 21, 1952 in Flint, Michigan to the late William Garty and Earlene Kaplan; he moved to Lake Wales from Michigan in 1990. Donald was an engineer for Lake Wales Hospital for 25 years and loved to ride his Harley. He had a big heart and was a family man. Donald loved his family and friends and was loving to all of his friends, children, and grandchildren.

Donald was preceded in death by his brother, William Garty; and sister-in-law, Pam Garty. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Deborah Garty; daughters, Brandie Aderholt of Lake Wales and Kellie Alexander (Chris VanCleve) of Davenport; sister, Kathleen Humphries of Michigan; brothers, Thomas Garty (Pam) of Pennsylvania, David Garty (Lynn) of Indiana, and Danny Garty (Mia) of California; grandchildren, Justin, Lindsay, Breanne, Trenton, Nathan, and Nolan; and nine great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m., Friday, November 10, 2023 at Marion Nelson Funeral Home in Lake Wales with Chaplain Charles Harkala officiating.
