Reconstruction and Repaving Underway
Heavy equipment began removing a portion of the Care Center Thrift Store parking lot more than a week ago, and the repairs will be conducted this week. The lot should be completed by the end of the long holiday weekend.
Access to the busy Lake Wales Care Center Thrift Store will be restricted until after the Independence Day holiday as crews from the Williams Company reconstruct curbing and resurface the parking lot at the store.
The lot is connected to the Park Avenue reconstruction being performed by the contractor as part of the Lake Wales Connected project. Closure of one access point to that street and the redesign of sidewalks and curbs caused significant impact, which led to the repairs and resurfacing,
Alternate parking will be required from Friday, June 30 through Monday, July 3rd. The closest alternate parking is across Stuart Avenue at the city lot south of the store. A second alternative exists west of the Post office, with an entrance off Orange Avenue or Wetmore St. That option requires a longer walk down Orange Avenue to Wetmore to reach the store entrance from Stuart Avenue.
Customers are requested not to attempt to walk on the parking lot during the construction.
The store will be closed July 4th and the parking lot is scheduled to reopen on Wednesday, July 5th.
