Richard Andrew Riley, 102, of Frostproof, FL, passed away Tuesday, April 18th, at his residence.
He was born April 5, 1921, in Greenville, SC to the late Walter and Sarah (Chance) Riley.
He earned his bachelor's degree from Clemson in 1943. He worked as a fruit and vegetable inspector for the USDA, moved to Frostproof then went to work for Latt Maxcy. He owned Riley Pump and Supply in Wauchula for five years. He returned to Frostproof and became Plant Manager for the Ben Hill Griffin citrus plant for an extended period. He also was a member of the Florida Citrus Commission and was past president of the Canners Association. Afterward he continued as a citrus consultant and a citrus farmer as well as operated a Christmas tree farm in North Carolina.
He is preceded in death by his first wife Gladys Ann Riley, 2nd wife Leah Riley and 3rd wife Viola Riley and son Richard Andrew Riley, Jr.
He is survived by his daughter Sara Morey of Frostproof and son Eugene Riley of Sebring; grandchildren, Traelyn, Amanda and Chance and three great grandchildren.
A memorial service is tentatively scheduled for Saturday, April 29, at 2:30 PM at the First United Methodist Church in Frostproof with Pastor Debbie Mac officiating.
