Final City Commission Candidate Forum Planned for March 28

Lake Wales History Museum Will Host Event

Lake Wales voters will get a final opportunity to hear the position of four candidates seeking terms on the city commission in the April 4 election. The Lake Wales History Museum will host the forum on Tuesday, March 28, beginning at 5:30 PM.

Seat 5 candidates, including incumbent Robin Gibson and challenger Danielle Pride Gibson will be joined by Seat 3 candidates Michelle Threatt and Keith Thompson, who are competing for a three-year term on the seat being vacated by Terrye Howell. All four candidates have confirmed their attendance.

The forum will be moderated by History Museum President Brandon Alvarado, an experienced moderator who has hosted several past forums.

The public is encouraged to attend and learn more about the candidates and their platforms.

The Lake Wales History Museum is located at 425 South Scenic Highway in Lake Wales in a former Seaboard Air Line railroad depot constructed in 1926. It is operated as a non-profit, and operated by a volunteer board. A staff of two professionals is funded by a combination of private donations and an annual contribution from the City of Lake Wales.

The museum preserves and curates an estimated 25,000 items within its historic collections. It offers self-guided tours of local history through permanent and changing interpretive displays, educational programming, special events and school programs throughout the year. The museum is open Wednesday through Saturday from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm.
