Smart Readers Deciphered Clues Hidden in News Stories to Claim Big Prizes
Several happy amateur detectives are celebrating their wins in the Lake Wales News Treasure Hunt game after finding the prize claim forms at area businesses.
Charmaine Walker, Bridget Nicole, Thomas Dunn, Juanita Zwarczuk, Hattie Johnson, Amy Mincet and Cristina Carver collected prize packages sharing $1000 worth of gift certificates, event passes, and prize items.
Sponsors including Melanie's Seafood Company, Dyer Chevrolet, Lake Wales Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram, Maggie Mae's Ice Cream, and the Strawberry Festival offered a wide range of prizes, with free bowling added to the prizes by Lake Wales Bowl.
Other prizes included gift certificates for oil changes worth up to $100, merchandise and service gift certificates worth more than $50 each, dining gift certificates of $20, $10 ice cream coupons, two hours of free bowling, and packets of gate tickets to the Strawberry Festival.
Winners worked to identify the places where the prizes could be claimed by deciphering a series of clues printed at the end of stories in LakeWalesNews.Net.
Clues were written in mirror-image text, and learning that trick early helped several winners be first to claim their prizes. All the prizes were hidden at the sponsor locations and were claimed by repeating a simple phrase, also revealed in the clues.
LakeWalesNews.net would like to thank all the contestants, whether successful or not, and especially the sponsoring businesses that contributed all the great prizes.
