"Run Like You Care" Will Help Fund Meals On Wheels

Hundreds of runners and walkers of all ages are expected to participate in the annual "Run Like You Care" April 15. The event will be held in Lake Wailes Park to help generate funds for the area's Meals on Wheels program.

The program, among two dozen run by the Lake Wales Care Center, delivers needed meals to homebound individuals.

The run will raise both awareness and funds for the Meals on Wheels Program, and includes 5K, 10K, and a Kids Fun Run to walkers or runners. Strollers are welcome.

Registration of the Saturday morning program begins at 7:00 am at 1100 North Lakeshore Boulevard, across from Kiwanis Park. The 10K will begin at 8:00 am, followed by the 5K at 8:30 am, and the Kids Fun Run around 9:00 am.

Each participant of the 5k and 10k will receive a performance runners t-shirt, finisher medal, and a goodie bag. Early packet pickup is available the day before the run from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm at Kathryn's Christian Bookstore, 205 East Park Avenue, downtown Lake Wales.

Early Bird registration is available through March 17th, at a cost of $35 for the 5K or 10K. Early registration ensures your correct shirt size will be available on race day.

After March 17th the cost is $40. The Kids Fun Run is free with an optional t-shirt.
