Traffic U-Turns Will Be Required in Three Turning Directions
A complicated traffic pattern requiring drivers to make U-turns on US 27 both north and south of SR 60 will be in place on two successive weekends beginning March 10, according to the Florida Department of Transportation. As the new, permanent traffic pattern at the busy intersection of US 27 and SR 60 begins to take shape, traffic changing roadways at the intersection will face new detours, but law enforcement officers are expected to be on hand to assist in directing traffic.
The project is moving forward, with traffic lanes set to open on the new bridge serving eastbound SR 60.
Fresh concrete will block ramps, requiring that traffic be re-routed around the newly-poured concrete and the crews working on them. The partial ramp closures will be in place from 7:00 PM Friday until 5:00 am Monday each weekend, March 10 through 13, and March 14 through 17.
Access to US 27 from SR 60 and from SR 60 to US 27 will be maintained with right turns and U-turns.
• SR 60 eastbound to US 27 northbound will turn right at the end of the ramp, then U-turn on US 27.
• SR 60 westbound to US 27 southbound will turn right at the end of the ramp and also U-turn on US 27.
• US 27 southbound to SR 60 eastbound will travel south of the interchange, U-turn on US 27, then use the northbound exit from US 27 to eastbound SR 60.
• Northbound US 27 to westbound SR 60 will travel north of the interchange then turn left on Central Avenue to westbound SR 60.
Extra caution is urged to avoid U-turning traffic on US 27.
