Inattention Likely Cause of Accident With Injuries
A black Nissan station wagon was destroyed after suffering severe damage at both front and rear after being struck and pushed into a street light on Scenic Highway.
Lake Wales police worked the accident, which occured at the south city limits on early Wednesday afternoon.
Lake Wales Police are working a traffic investigation as a result of a crash on Scenic Highway. The location of the incident is within a school zone for McLaughlin Middle-Senior High, but the zone was not believed to have been active at the time.
A driver attempting to make a left turn from north-bound Scenic Highway to Winston Avenue early Wednesday afternoon was struck from behind by a Honda SUV and pushed more than 200 feet into a streetlight. The streetlight support pole was sheared off and broken in two places as a result of the impact.
The first vehicle, a small black Nissan station wagon, suffered extensive damage to both the front and rear from the dual impacts. The condition of the driver of that vehicle was transported to AdventHealth Lake Wales Medical Center with minor injuries..
Passersby rushed to aid the occupants of both vehicles after the crash. which left debris scattered both on and along the highway, delaying traffic.
