Irwin Salud, of Lake Wales passed away Saturday, December 10, 2022 at Mease Countryside Hospital in Safety Harbor.
He was born August 7, 1971 in Hartford, Connecticut; he moved to Lake Wales from Connecticut in 1974. Irwin worked for Publix and was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church.
Born in Connecticut, Irwin and his family made Lake Wales, Florida their home in 1974. He attended Hillcrest Elementary and was a proud Babson Park Gnat. He graduated from The Roosevelt School in 1990. Irwin was a devoted Publix employee for more than 30 years.
Irwin was a longtime member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church, and served as an Usher for many years. He enjoyed spending time on his legos and puzzles. He loved superheroes, Bon Jovi, theme parks, and family trips.
Irwin always remembered your birthday and greeted you with a ready embrace. Always eager for a good joke or funny story, he was quick to share his big smile and hearty laugh to light up the room. Most of all, Irwin loved being surrounded by family and friends.
For most of his life, Irwin battled valiantly against kidney disease and the associated health complications. At every turn, Irwin beat the odds and expectations and lived a life full of love and adventure. The family is grateful for the many doctors, nurses and caregivers for their thoughtful care.
Irwin is survived by his parents, Dr. Eusebio Salud, Jr. and Violeta Salud of Lake Wales; brothers, Dr. Christopher Salud and wife Dr. Soli of Tampa, and Dr. Johnny Salud and wife Rachel of Seattle, Washington;
sister, Aileen Rose and husband Dr. Matthew nieces Olivia, Julia, Audrey, Jocelyn, and Lucy, nephew Alexander, as well as beloved aunts, uncles and cousins.
A visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., Sunday, December 18, 2022 at Marion Nelson Funeral Home in Lake Wales. A funeral mass will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, December 19, 2022 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Lake Wales with Father Francisco Aquino, Father Mariano Catura, and Father Luis Osorio officiating.
