Polk County Seeks Citizens to Serve on Panel

Groups Serves to Help Direct Federal Funds to Needy Communities

Polk County is seeking residents to serve on the Community Development Citizens' Advisory Committee (CAC). The 15-member advisory committee assists the Housing and Neighborhood Development (HND) Office of Health & Human Services in reviewing and evaluating the applications for funding from the Community Development Block Grant Program (CDBG). This program, funded through the US Housing & Urban Development (HUD), assists low to moderate income people struggling with housing and homelessness. Persons potentially affected by the program, along with social service providers, are encouraged to apply.

Members of the CAC serve three year terms, and are approved by the Board of County Commissioners prior to serving.

The volunteer committee meets every other month at the offices of HND in Bartow, or virtually. Meeting dates and times will be established through a polling of members.

Anyone interested in becoming a member of the Citizens' Advisory Committee should submit a resume and letter of interest to [email protected]. If an applicant feels they may have a potential for a conflict of interest in certain circumstances they are encouraged to include that in their letter.
