Public Invited to Join City Officials to Mark Start of "Park Avenue Connector"
The public is invited to join officials and staff of the City of Lake Wales for the groundbreaking of the Park Avenue Connector Trail on Monday, April 4.
The ceremony is scheduled to take place at 11:00 am on Third Street, behind the library. A portion of that street between Crystal Avenue and Park Avenue will be closed to vehicular traffic to become a part of the new trail, which will link the Lake Wailes Trail with the downtown commercial district's restaurants and services.
The Park Avenue Connector Trail, a 3000-foot multiuse trail, will encircle the library and the Lake Wales Woman's Club auditorium, connecting to the linier park along the railroad and near Scenic Highway. Construction is anticipated to start this spring. It's the City's first step in establishing a network of trails linking residents to parks and area establishments.
Key components of the project include the multiuse trail with a scenic overlook at Crystal Lake. It will also feature contemporary landscaping
Trail lighting and trail lighting to conform with that on the Lake Wailes Trail. Parallel parking will be provided along the residential portion of Park Avenue,
Parking for the event is available at the library located at 290 Cypress Garden Lane, Lake Wales.
