Veterans Honored in Display at Lake Wales Public Library

Remembering those who have served to preserve American democracy against the threats posed by Fascism, Communism, and Totalitarianism is among the sacred duties of American citizens each year on Veterans' Day.

To remind us of the difficulties they overcame, the staff of the Lake Wales Public Library has created a Veteran's Day exhibit drawing from the library's local history archives. Documents have been provided from those archive as well as family and fellow City of Lake Wales employees to document their service to our country.

Newspapers articles from two Lake Wales publications from the World War II era are on display, along with photos of the Commanders of Lake Wales' American Legion Post 71 through the years.

A unique addition is America's White Table, a tribute honoring service members who are Missing in Action or were classified as Prisoners of War. America's White table will be Wednesday, November 10 through Monday, November 15. The photographs will remain up through the end of November.

The Lake Wales Public Library will be open on Veteran's Day. Visit the library to view the Veteran's Day exhibit.
