Katherine Beatrice (Taylor) Ciszek, 1926-2021

Katherine Beatrice (Taylor) Ciszek (1/10/1926 - 10/7/2021), was born, just prior to the Great Depression, in Lake Wales, Fl. to Mamie (Douglas) and L.E. Taylor. She was the third youngest of 11 children, all who preceded her in passing.

Katherine married John S. Ciszek in 1945 following his Air Force discharge and after 1 year in Chicago (his home), they settled in Lake Wales where they raised, what would eventually be, 7 children.

Every Sunday, the family would fill an entire pew at The Holy Spirit Catholic Church. She could regularly be seen at all of their kids many sporting events and doing her part in volunteering concessions, feeding and hosting kids' sleepovers or whatever else was needed.

Katherine was employed by Donald Duck/Citrus World for 32 years when she retired as the head Laboratory Technician in the concentrate lab.

She was an active member, and at one time, President, of the Business and Professional Women's Club, Elks Auxiliary (Elketts), Knights of Columbus (Columbiettes) and Council of Catholic Women.

She was a longtime volunteer for Good Shepherd Hospice and St Vincent DePaul Charities, as well as the Lake Wales Care Center. She was a lifelong member of The Holy Spirit Catholic Church, in Lake Wales.

She dedicated her life to giving to others, both physically and financially and serving our Lord.

Katherine was preceded by her husband John, in 2005, after 60 years of marriage.

She is survived by her 7 children: Gwen (Phelps) Greene, Linda Ciszek Hilleshiem (Jeff), L Stanley Ciszek, Donna Slagel (Steve), John Ciszek, Mamie Ciszek Hall, and Paul Ciszek, as well as 15 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and 6 Great-Great-Grandchildren, and too many nephews and nieces to count (none less important).

We would like to welcome all family and friends, who loved her, to a Celebration of her life on Saturday, November 13 at 2 o'clock.

Please contact the family for further details. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the charity of your choice in her honor.
