Annual "Blessing of the Animals" Takes Place Saturday Morning

The public is invited to bring their loved pets to receive the annual blessing this Saturday at the Church of the Good Shepherd.

The service will take place outdoors. It's non-denominational and open to the all animal lovers and their pets, said event coordinator Jessica Bray.

The date honors the feast day of St. Francis of Assisi, the Patron Saint of Animals and the Environment, and is hosted by the Good Shepherd Church's Daughters Of the King Chapter.

The 10:00 am program includes individual animal blessings, a release of pigeons, and some pet treats.
