Chamber's First Friday Coffee Draws Crowd Downtown

Kathryn's Hosts Monthly Gathering on Autumn Morning of National Coffee Appreciation Day

Several dozen citizens gathered Friday morning at Kathryn's Christian Books at 205 East Park Avenue for the Chamber of Commerce's First Friday event, which coincided with National Coffee Day.

Folks clustered around an array of tasty treats and coffee selections under canopies erected on the sidewalk in front of the shop, which is well known for serving a variety of coffee and ice cream on a daily basis.

Rob Quam, executive director of the Lake Wales Care Center, welcomed the crowd to one of the organization's "enterprise" activities. We're happy to see so many people taking care of their downtown buildings, and excited about the improvements planned for downtown," he said, citing the efforts of some of those present.

Kathryn's offers a wide selection of gifts, cards, and books, and hosts group activities for both young people and adults. Each Friday from 3:00 to 7:00 they offer those goodies as a buy-one, get-one deal.
