Highlanders Face Lakeland Dreadnaughts Tonight

In a much-anticipated showdown between two top Polk County football squads, the Lake Wales Highlanders will host the Lakeland Dreadnaughts this Friday at Legion Field. The big game will kick off at 7:30 pm. The Dreadnaughts are ranked 3rd statewide in class 7-A, while the Highlanders are ranked 10th in Class 6-A

Both teams are sporting 2-0 regular season records going into the non-conference tilt.

Lake Wales is coming off a 55-16 victory over Davenport Ridge Community. Lakeland has scored 79 points in two games this season, while allowing only 19.

The Highlanders have a deep array of threats and depend on a take-away defense led by Sean Major, Jaramiah Anglin, Courtney Brown, Mitchell Cain, Keyshawn Anderson and Tavaris Jones,

On the other side of the equation several potent offensive threats are led by Marquish Seabon, who has broken away for eight rushing touchdowns in two weeks, and has racked up 773 yards. Corey Harris, Carlos Mitchell, Xavier Marlow and Devin Hardy are all available to make the big plays, fed by the quarterback duo of Trent Grotjan and Nick Young.
