Communication Builds Our Community

Lake Wales News.net Acquired by New Day Market Research

Lake Wales will continue to enjoy the presence of a local news source focused on the community thanks to a recent business agreement.

It was announced today that New Day Market Research (NDMR) has acquired the assets of LakeWalesNews.net and will continue frequent publication of important stories and community news. NDMR intends to continue the focus on local news while increasing coverage of local sports and community groups.

Two and half years after its inaugural issue the virtual newspaper LakeWalesNews.net has served area readers by publishing thousands of stories of importance to the community, with the support of numerous local advertisers.

"Launching the News was a labor of love, and I appreciate the many citizens who contributed their time and effort to help supply community news," founding publisher Chevon Baccus said. 'I am very pleased to have an entity come forward to continue to serve Lake Wales with important and entertaining news stories."

Plans for the future of the on-line news outlet include greatly expanded coverage of schools and school sports, service organizations, human interest, and economic development issues as Lake Wales experiences unprecedented growth. County and state stories will also be added to the emphasis on local news.

"People make up our community, and we should celebrate them," said newly named sports editor Drew Truitt. "We are especially interested in covering the Highlander teams and local sports leagues, along with Webber Warriors and Warner Royals university teams." Area coaches of football, basketball, baseball, track, wrestling, lacrosse, tennis, and other sports are being invited to assure their team receives the coverage it deserves.

With a particular focus on advertising effectiveness, NDMS will fine-tune advertiser's ads and extend their reach through a variety of enhanced techniques, assuring solid exposure to local customers.

"We are delighted to have the opportunity to acquire a high-value local publication," said NDMS spokesperson Tom Paulson. "Our ability to research the specific markets of our customers and offer solutions tailored to their individual needs will enhance the value and results of their advertising dollar. Every advertiser will be eligible for this additional service. We want their products and services to be top-of-mind for Lake Wales area consumers."

Also planned is a free graphic Business Directory feature that will connect local business services such as painters, plumbers, cleaning services and handymen with homeowners who need their services. Area businesses wishing to be listed should send their contact information to [email protected].
