Library Displays Artistic Book-Related Banners

The Lake Wales Public Library is home to a unique new exhibit of public art.

In partnership with the Lake Wales Arts Council and the Lake Wales Library Association the Book Bounce Banner Public Art project is now displayed on the library's grounds.

Four new banners, created by local artists, feature literary quotes, or book covers. The banners were painted by artists from the Lake Wales Arts Council's Artist Registry. Creators include: Alice Absolutely, Sherry Ross, Hiroshi and Alyssa Harrington.

The colorful works of art are each two designs, front and back, on four panels. Titles featured include Waiting for Snow in Havana by Carlos Eire, The Things They Carried by Tim O'Brien, The Raven by Edgar Allen Poe, The Wizard of Oz by L. Frank Baum, Little Women by Louisa May Alcott, The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis and The Dragonriders of Pern by Anne McCaffrey.

The artists selected a title, author or quote that had a lasting influence on them.

The Book Bounce Banner Public Art project is sponsored by the Lake Wales Library Association, the non-profit organization that supports the Lake Wales Public Library.

Visit the Lake Wales Public Library, walk the grounds and enjoy this wonderful display.
