Robert Douskey, 1943-2021

Robert Francis Douskey, 78, of Lake Wales passed away Thursday, July 15, 2021 at Advent Health Lake Wales.

He was born June 26, 1943 in New Milford, CT to the late Adam and Marion Douskey; he moved to Lake Wales from Connecticut 30 years ago. Robert worked for the Kimberly-Clark Corp. as a supply truck driver. He was a friend to all who met him and truly liked by all. He was a great sports fan.

Robert was the track star in the early 60s for New Milford High School and won many awards for the school. After high school, he joined the Marine Corps and was a very patriotic person.

In 2018, Robert was the gold metal winner for the Senior Polk County Horseshoe club, which he loved playing with all of his buddies. Robert was a huge fan of the New York Yankees. He enjoyed football, golf, swimming, and biking. Robert also enjoyed traveling with his friend Glenda to play bingo and go to the casino. He had such a passion for life and was a go getter, always helping and caring for people. He always gave 100% of himself to his family and friends. Robert will be greatly missed by all, but he will live in our hearts forever.

Robert was preceded in death by his brother, Edward Nelson Douskey. He is survived by his son, Robin Douskey and wife Jennifer of California; sisters, Rita Sommerville and husband George of New Milford, CT, Mary Ann Lundberg of Washington, CT, and Kathryn Douskey of New Milford, CT; brother, Adam Douskey, Jr. and wife Iona of New Preston, CT; grandson, Jayce and wife Jessica; great-granddaughter, Oakleigh; several nieces and nephews; his beloved Marions daughter, Ann Chandler; his wonderful caring friend, Glenda St. Peter; and numerous friends.
