Radus Hitchcox, 1927-2021

Radus McMillen Hitchcox, 93, of Lake Wales, passed away in Winter Haven on Friday, Jan. 29, 2021.

Born February 20, 1927 in Brockdell, TN to the late Billie and Myrtle (Brock) Hitchcox he moved to Lake Wales in 2007 from Chester, WV.

He served his country in the United States Navy and fought in combat in Japan. He was very proud of his military service. He was also a member of the VFW and the American Legion and a former member of the First United Methodist Church. Mr. Hitchcox will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Lema Clark and brothers Hobart Hitchcox and Wally Hitchcox.

He is survived by his daughter Sandra Cleveland and her husband Larry of Lake Wales; three grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and a brother, Jerry Hitchcox of TN.

The family will receive friends from 9 a.m. until service time at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 4 at the Marion Nelson Funeral Home chapel in Lake Wales. Interment will take place at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Disabled American Veterans, Homeless Veterans Initiative.
