Antoinette "Jeanette" Stitt, 1924-2020

Antoinette "Jeanette" (Delfino Salvucci) Stitt, loving Mother to Jeanie Salvucci (deceased), Rita Salvucci Strempack and Len Stitt, passed peacefully Nov. 24, 2020 at the age of 96. She was born April 23, 1924.

She was the youngest child of Mazzio Nazzaria Delfino and Maria Immacolata Barrone, who arrived at Ellis Island from Italy in 1935. They settled in Chester, PA and parented nine children.

Beloved Grandmother to Kymberly Strempack Clark of Delray Beach, FL, Guy and Joy Strempack of Fort Lauderdale, FL and Christina Stitt Callabro of Bristol, TN. Great-Grandmother to her adored Granddaughters Taylor Clark, Cameryn Clark and Mia Strempack. Aunt, Cousin and Dear Friend to many. A strong woman of faith and believer in Jesus Christ.

As the "baby", Jeanette was always given the royal treatment by her siblings and earned the loving title of "Queen Bee". Like most royalty, we hardly recall a day when her hair, clothes, makeup, and accessories were not perfectly coordinated. In fact, in her final days, Jeanette told us that, if we insisted on taking photos, we could at least put a scarf and pearl necklace and earrings on her. Yet, on that day, her ageless beauty shined much brighter than her jewels.

Until the age of 95, Jeanette was completely independent, still preparing homemade Italian meals. If you knew her, the odds are good that she cooked for you often, as she always made sure that no one ever went hungry. Whether it was tortellini soup, stuffed shells, pasta fagioli or meatballs with raisins, she believed the fastest way to your heart was through your stomach. Although she will no longer fill our stomachs, her love and kindness has left our hearts forever full.

Jeanette spent 2020 in Lake Wales with her daughter Rita. There is no place on earth she would have rather been. She spent her final days surrounded by her beloved family, a visit we will all cherish. Despite the pandemic, she asked her loved ones to come visit, as she knew it was time to go "Home" to be with the Lord. With the strongest of faith, Jeanette was at peace with her departure and looked forward to reuniting with her siblings and her Baby Jeanie who passed at just 9 months old from Polio, the first case in Delaware County, PA in 1944.

Jeanette will be dearly missed by family and friends. Private viewing at the Marion Nelson Funeral Home in Lake Wales. There will be a Family Prayer and Plaque Dedication in Antoinette's memory (on The Memorial Wall at Lakeshore Club Villas). This will be followed by the planting of a Palm Tree that will grow in love and keep our Beloved One in memory for all to enjoy.
