Republicans, Democrats Vote March 17 in Presidential Preference Primary

Floridians will have the opportunity to make their choice for Presidential candidates on March 17th, but only members of the Republican or Democrat parties are eligible to cast a ballot.

Florida is one of 12 states that have closed primary elections. Only registered Democrats are eligible to vote in the Democratic Presidential Primary and only registered Republicans are eligible to vote in the Republican Presidential Primary.

Voters wishing to participate in the Presidential Preference Primary are encouraged to double-check their party affiliation in advance. Voter lookup is available at PolkElections.com, or call the Supervisor of Elections Office at (863) 534-5888 between 8am and 5pm Monday through Friday.

"It's easy to change your party affiliation if you want to participate in the election, but you must make the change before the February 18th deadline", Supervisor of Elections Lori Edwards explained.
