Register by Jan. 11 for Lake Wales Little League

Registration closes Saturday, Jan. 11 for participation in the 2020 Lake Wales Little League.

Parents may register in-person from 6-8 p.m. Monday through Saturday, Jan. 6-10, or from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 11 at the Barranco Field, 300 N. Lakeshore Blvd. Online registration is available until Saturday at http://www.lakewalesll.org.

The registration fee is $100, but $30 of that is returned once a parent works a shift in the concession stand.

The Little League programs include: T-ball for ages 4-5, coach pitch for age 6, baseball for ages 7-16, and girls softball for ages 7-16. The league also a free challenger program for those with physical or mental disabilities - children over age 5 and adults.

Opening Day is Saturday, Feb. 29, with opening ceremonies, first games and team pictures. Most teams will play two times per week. Most teams will play two times per week. T-Ball and Coach Pitch play on Saturdays and sometimes throughout the week. The season will end in mid-May.

Uniforms: Lake Wales Little League provides all players with a jersey, hat/visor, and socks. T-Ball, Coach Pitch, and Baseball players must provide their own grey pants. Softball players must provide their own black pants. If your pants have belt loops, you will be required to wear a belt that matches your jersey.

Except for T-ball and Coach Pitch players who are assigned to teams randomly by the computer league organizer, players who did not play in the 2019 spring season or who are moving up to a new age division must bring their own glove and attend a mandatory skills assessment in order to be drafted to a team.

Assessment dates are: 6:30-8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 13 for Mini-Minor league ages 7-8, baseball on Borders Field and softball on Polston Field; 6:30-8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 13 or Minor league ages 9-10, baseball on Barnes Field and softball on Wolfson Field; 6:30-8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 14 for Major league ages 11-12, baseball on Barranco Field and softball on Polston Field; 6:30-8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 14 Senior league ages 13-16, baseball on Drasdo Field and softball on Wolfson Field. Makeup assessments as needed will be held from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 15.
