Communication Builds Our Community
McLaughlin Middle and Fine Arts Academy in Lake Wales is looking for community leaders to participate in the 2019 Great American Teach In Wednesday, Nov 6. The annual event provides local leaders with the opportunity to share their career, hobbies, experiences and civic involvement with McLaughlin students.
The Teach-in is coordinated by the pubic relations department of the Polk County Public Schools and is celebrated in conjunction with American Education Week.
Presenters can sign up for one or both classroom presentations. The day starts with a welcome and continental breakfast at 9:30 a.m. The first classroom presentation is at 10 a.m. and the second at 11 a.m. Lunch will be provided after the second presentation.
"We would like for you to interact and share with our students your career, travels and/or hobbies," said Debra Wright Hudson, acting principal. "Several past speakers have shared intriguing real-life experiences that have empowered, motivated and encouraged our students to explore new and exciting careers and/or cultures.
"Other speakers have read books and/or shared pictures of exotic international travels and cuisines."
The event serves as an awesome opportunity to educate students abut the world of work in an exciting and relevant way.
With questions or to sign up, email [email protected] or call 863-678-4233 by Friday, Nov. 1. Please indicate if you are available for one or both presentations. The school is located at 800 S. 4th St. in Lake Wales.
