Communication Builds Our Community
Lake Wales is home to attorney Flora "Tonya" Stewart where she lives with her husband, Sam, and three children ages 3, 8 and 10.
But she works here, too, and operates Tonya Stewart Law, P.A. from an office located at her 1924 downtown building purchased in 2017 at 229 E. Park Ave. in Lake Wales. She also has an office in West Polk County at 1102 Florida Ave. S., Lakeland. Her phone number is 863-279-4473.
Why use Stewart and her law firm? She says she is a "compassionate advocate" who pays special attention to area residents who find themselves at an impasse on what to do and where to go to get made whole for auto accidents, negligent security, domestic violence and criminal law who "will put your mind at ease by making sure you're fully informed about your case."
Injured victims need an attorney that will stand up to insurance companies. An attorney who won't just treat them as a number, but as a human being. One who genuinely cares about their health and will advise and explain the process every step of the way.
Arrested or accused individuals need an attorney that will fight zealously and aggressively on their behalf. Who need an attorney who understands the dynamics of the criminal justice system who won't back down to State Prosecutors.
This is where Stewart comes in. She is an attorney born and raised in Lake Wales specializing in the areas of Personal Injury and Criminal Defense.
Starting out as in the legal profession as an Assistant Public Defender in Bartow, she worked in the misdemeanor, felony, juvenile, and violation of probation divisions. Later Stewart went on to work for a Personal Injury Firm in Sanford which specialized in car and truck accidents cases where she helped secure over $1 million in settlements for injured clients.
In 2001, Stewart graduated magna cum laude from Florida A&M University with a B.S. in Criminal Justice. In 2006, she earned a Juris Doctorate from Florida A&M College of Law where she was part of the Prestigious Law Review staff that published the law school's first Law Review Article. In 2014, Stewart graduated summa cum laude (highest honors) with an MBA from Florida International University.
She is a member of the Florida Bar, Georgia Bar, National Bar Association, American Bar Association, the Young Trial Lawyers Association, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People and Rotary on the Ridge.
