Communication Builds Our Community
Cornerstone Hospice is already putting to good use two grants from the GiveWell Community Foundation.
Last spring, Cornerstone received a $5,000 Empower Polk grant from the GiveWell Community Foundation to purchase two CADD® pumps to be used to train Cornerstone nurses to assist with the care of patients experiencing pain. The device provides safe and accurate medication delivery.
Previously, Cornerstone Hospice would lease the pumps during the training of new nurses. Having the devices in-house is a cost and time savings for the non-profit agency that relies on community support for special programs.
The new CADD® pumps will be used only for Cornerstone staff in Polk County and new nurses have already benefited from training on the device. On August 15, representatives from the GiveWell Community Foundation saw their donation in action as they observed Cornerstone Hospice nurses and other members of the Medical team being trained on the new devices.
Additionally, Cornerstone Hospice Foundation received a $5,000 Impact Polk 2019 grant for Charity Care in Polk County from the George W. Jenkins Fund within the GiveWell Community Foundation. The funding will be used to support patients on hospice care who are uninsured or underinsured.
These generous grants from the GiveWell Community Foundation enable Cornerstone Hospice to fulfill its mission of providing exceptional, skilled, loving care to Cornerstone patients and their families throughout Polk County.
