Linda Law, 1924-2019

Linda Elaine Law, 95 of Lake Wales, passed Monday, Aug. 19, 2019 at Brandywyne Healthcare in Winter Haven.

She was born Feb. 12, 1924 in Caimanera, Cuba to the late George Percival and Lydia (Joseph) Tennant. Early on in life she taught business at Bennett College in Jamaica, then moved to New York and worked at Bellevue Hospital in New York City. She was a Paralegal Assistant for Bristol-Myers for over 20 years, retired from there and became a substitute teacher for Janie Howard Wilson in Lake Wales. After teaching, she worked at Dillard’s in Lake Wales. She was the president of the Christian Women’s Club, and a member of the Women’s Club as well as being an active member of the Winter Haven Church of the Nazarene.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Hector Mayfield Law; sisters, Sylvia Dobson, and Gweneth Law, brother, George Tennant, a ½ brother, and her son-in-law, George Winston Bancroft.

Survivors include her daughter, Carol Law-Bancroft of Toronto, Canada; grandson, George Winston Bancroft, II; niece, Pauline Terrell; nephew, Paul Tennant; and her sister-in-law, Ena Tennant.

Memorial service will be held at the Winter Haven Church of the Nazarene at a later date.

Johnson-Nelson-Gill Funeral Home in Lake Wales is in charge of arrangements.
