Communication Builds Our Community

Leroy Fulton, 1931-2019

During the past years of extraordinary physical and mental disabilities, Leroy M. Fulton exuberated kindness and love to the very end. He built a life of family, friends, faith and service. He was the definition of God's servant leading a variety of ministries in all walks of life. Leroy was born November 13, 1931 and passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones June 12, 2019. He was born in Neon, Kentucky to Esther Hermine Baker and William Marcus Fulton.

During high school Leroy discovered his calling to live by the example and message of Christ. He began college at Georgetown to study pharmacy, but the calling of ministry was too great and he moved on to Anderson College, Anderson, Indiana. This was his first step in a lifelong journey of passion, service and ministry throughout his life.

While he attended Anderson College he met his wife Jean W. Fulton. They were together 67 years before Jean passed away in 2018. Their path took them from their college years to ministry in Anderson, Indiana, Drexel, NC, Sarasota, FL to Warner Southern University, Lake Wales, FL where he was an original founding member and the founding President until their move to Hope International University, Fullerton, CA and Financial Planning Ministries. His life's passion took several paths of ministry from music, church and Christian education. He was young at heart and fortunate to inspire young students from all cultures and backgrounds around the world.

He strongly believed to teach and lead by example. One of his most memorable moments was creating "The Heart Village" at Warner Southern University and participating with Food For The Hungry and World Vision. This simulated 3rd world village trained students in the mission of teaching others to farm, get clean water and develop services, sharing faith, knowledge and hope for a better community.

His gentle nature of unconditional love and giving of himself for others was his core belief of God's message. With all his physical challenges, his last words were "love you".

Leroy's sons Doug and Mark survive as his third son, Kevin preceded him in death. Their families and children: Doug's family, wife & daughter in-law Lea, with his grandchildren Daniel and Coco.
