Mildred B. Esteve, MSW, 76, of Lake Wales passed away on Monday, June 10, 2019 at Lake Wales Medical Center. Mildred was born on December 30, 1942, in New York City to the late Anna (Ricci) and Charles Briand. She had been a resident of Lake Wales since 2005, after retiring from her career as a certified social worker in Stony Brook and Moriches, Long Island, NY.
Mildred earned her Master's of Social Work, (MSW), from Stony Brook University, and she was extremely proud of her work with AHRC, (Association for Habilitation and Residential Care), and at a Long Island based crisis intervention hotline.
Mildred was a parishioner and Eucharistic Minister at Holy Spirit Catholic Church and a member of the Lake of the Hills Community Club. She was a voracious reader, a talented artist and an avid Scrabble player.
Mildred, known affectionately to her family as "Milimom," is survived by her husband and constant companion of 62 years Edward Esteve, daughter Kimberly Esteve of Stony Brook, NY, sons Greg Esteve of Lake Wales, and Chris Esteve of New York City, her dear sister Sandra Briand Merino of Jupiter, FL, her 3 grandchildren: Adrian, Gabriel and Cristian, and a beloved sister-in-law, Josephine Solomon.
A memorial service will be held at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 644 S. 9th St., Lake Wales, FL 33853, at 11 a.m. Friday, June 28. Interment will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 13 at Cemetery of the Holy Rood, 111 Old Country Road, Westbury, Long Island, NY.
