Youth Music Festival Free Concert April 14

The 17th Annual Marilyn Newell Youth Music Festival will be held April 13 and 14 at the Lake Wales Arts Center. Winners will perform one of their concert pieces during a free public concert and awards ceremony at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 14 in Updike Hall at the Lake Wales Arts Center, 1099 SR 60 E.

Participants are between ages 11 and 18. They will perform two selections of 8-10 minutes. Singers are encouraged to sing one of their selections in a foreign language. Prizes will be awarded in the junior category ages 11-14 and senior category ages 15-18.

Top winners will receive $1,000 or $250 in the senior and junior categories, respectively. Junior prizes are $100 for first place, $75 for second place and $50 for third place. Senior prizes are $500 for first place, $250 for second place and $100 for third place.
