The third annual Virginia Lassiter Leadership Luncheon will be held at 12:30 p.m., Saturday, April 6 at the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd Parish Hall, 221 South Fourth Street, Lake Wales.
The luncheon will be followed by A Conversation with Leaders of the Lake Wales Arts community: Robin Gibson, Jayne Crews-Linton and Marilyn Newell.
Founded in 1972 by a small group of citizens, the Lake Wales Arts Council has led Lake Wales' reputation as community rich in arts and culture.
Panelist Marilyn Newell was a member of this early group. Local artist Jayne Crews-Linton and attorney Robin Gibson, have been advocates for the arts in Lake Wales for decades.
Their conversation with Polk County's Historical Preservation Manager Myrtice Young will explore the history and leadership that has given Lake Wales a strong reputation as a center for the arts and culture in our county and state.
The Virginia Lassiter Leadership Luncheon honors Mrs. Lassiter's 58 years of dedicated service to the Lake Wales Public Library and the LW Library Association.
From the founding of the of the Lake Wales Library Association in 1953 until her death in 2012, Virginia Lassiter continuously served as a volunteer, board member, fund raiser and supportive voice of the Lake Wales Public Library.
A limited number of tickets for the Virginia Lassiter Leadership Luncheon are available for $25 per person at the Lake Wales Public Library.
